The purpose of this blog entry is to have a regularly schedule article regarding the status of the film. Where we currently stand in terms of completion, how post-production is moving along, etc. This is a way for all readers to be kept up-to-date on the current state of the film. That being said!:

Editing wise: As of now, 70% of the overall film is edited. The first 20 minutes of the film are locked editorial wise and visual effect wise. As the current rate, we may have a complete assembly cut by the Spring. This cut, however, will not have all completed visual effect shots. By Spring, the first 60-70 minutes may be locked but that is currently in the air.

Visual Effects: Editing is a cake walk compared to visual effects which are the primary reason why the film won’t be completed for a few months. We currently have 65% of all visual effects done on the film. This has mainly been compositing effects and 3D animations. More complex work begins next month and will be worked on for the following 4-6 months. This work will be mainly for the finale which is quite complex but in the end, should be a visual feast for the eyes! It’s a given the whole film will have an assembly cut before all the effects are done.

The current goal sent for the film’s completion is the last week of June. Now, let me repeat. This is the current goal. As of now, there is no release date locked nor will there be one until the film is completed enough to allow a projected release date is plausible. In other word, the the film is about 99% completed and little to no work is necessary. We are hoping the film can be premiered, screened, and released by the second week of July. We are also hoping to do a screening of the finished product at the Screw Attack Gaming Convention in Dallas the first weekend of July. Now, this all serves as motivation. Something to use as a mean to make sure we stay focus and continue to work full force on the completion of the film. When working on an independent film with no official release date, you can enjoy the completion process leisurely but may also fall victim to pushing back the completion of the film and announcing delays based on said leisure. I do not want this so I need to use this opportunity as a means of getting the film out sooner rather than later. Am I saying the release is set for July? No. No release date is official nor am I making a false promise. I am, however, letting you guys know our current goal and game plan. As we move on, we will continue to fill you guys in on the post-production process.

As for or the article in which a selected actor from “Megaman” will share their experience working on the film, we are currently awaiting said article to be sent it and should be posted within the next 4 days. When posted, I will also post an update on what more content and articles will be possible in the coming weeks.

Thanks everybody for the support and have a great one!

CASTING:

Auditions were held January 19th, 2008. Leading into this audition, I received hundreds of e-mails from actors interested in auditioning and being involved. From all these submissions, based on appearance and experience, I narrowed it down to the roster of those that ended up attending.

At the time of the audition, Rock/Megaman was the only character casted leaving Roll, Wily, Light, and the 3 live action Robot Masters; Iceman, Elecman, and Fireman.

The casting of Rock dates back to mid-2007 when Jun Naito expressed interest in the project. The thought of him playing Rock didn’t cross my mind until it was out in the open that he was interested. I looked at him…and it clicked. He had the look and screen presence and, on top of that, his acting ability would bring the much needed layers to the portray of Rock I wanted in the film. Also, he remembers and enjoys the Megaman. So, even both a script was written, he was cast in the role of Rock/Megaman.

The responses have been great so far for Eddie Lebron’s Megaman Movie trailer and we want to thank everyone who was patient and watched the trailer right here on Ningin.com. Yea, apologies for the site slowdown. We had many, many spikes yesterday!

We want to give out some free Megaman stuff like the new Megaman 9 game (on your system of choice), free tickets to the Megaman movie screenings, and free Megaman DVDs. Unfortunately we don’t have enough for the tens of thousands of people who watched so here’s a simple little contest to determine the winner:

Hello readers!

Sorry for the mega-delay (pun intended). Been rather busy with post-production on “Megaman” but finally have time to update you guys on how things are progressing over here!

With prinicle photography complete and various inserts, visual effects plates, and pick-up’s remaining, a huge relief is present with all the major days of shooting out of the way! Hard to believe how far we’ve came from the first day of production back on February 10th.

Two things to mention:

First off, the first part of the production retrospective has been written and shall be posted this weekend!

Secondly, the trailer. Many people seem to think the first released clip was a “trailer” of sorts which isn’t the case. It was merely a clip. The trailer, on the other hand, will reveal more of the film’s plot, visual design, special effects and action sequences! The release date of the first trailer will be revealed in the retrospective article this weekend so be sure to stay tuned! Thanks for the support!

This Sunday marks the last day of principal photography on “Megaman”. It’s been a long journey
that started back on February 10th. Of course, there are some pick up’s and inserts left but it’s a relief to know that principal photography is done. All the complex scenes, All major fighting sequences. All the major stuff will be DONE in only two days. It doesn’t help that this Sunday will be the longest day of filming in the whole shoot!

With that being said, come next week, I’m going to begin writing a retrospect on the process of doing this all the way up to this point. That way, all readers can be caught up with how this film come to fruition and how things progressed!
