Hello!

One week ago, I traveled to MagFest 2010 to screen a rough cut of “Megaman”.  What I Got was: amazing audience reaction, all around praise, and a very happy batch of viewers that believed the Blue Bomber has been done with great justice in this film.  In short: the screening was a success!  In addition, the film was screened a second time the following day so I was able to sneak in and see the audience reaction without them knowing I was present.  I stuck in and out to hear what the fans were saying amongst themselves.  No only were audience reactions even BETTER, but I heard solid chatter praising the film.  So, with a film that seems to be in pretty great shape, what’s next?

Due to the success of the screening , little changes will be made to the film as is.  The new ending that was screened tested very well and I’m extremely happy with the pacing so the current cut is pretty much what will be in final release (aside from some fine tuning here and there).  That means the released film should having a final running time of about 107 minutes with credits!

The next big question is: when will it be released?  The film shall be released online 2 weeks after the premiere.  Well, when will the premiere be?  I don’t want to say officially when it will but I do have a specific time frame in mind and it’s soon….very soon.  Without giving too much, the film will be premiered before the summer.  If any delays occur, you all will be the first to know but at this rate, we are in really good shape.  Let’s say this: everyone who is working on post-production is aware of what is left and what their deadlines are and have agreed to said deadlines.  If no delays occur and everything is smooth, you are looking at a  Premiere/Release within the next 3-5 months (meaning the soonest possible CAN be 3 months from right now).  I don’t want to say a specific release date at the risk of it backfiring in my face but we are close.  Once the film is completed we will spend time promoting and marketing the film as much as humanly (and legally) possible.  We will also push the premiere and make sure we get hardcore MM fans in those seats come premiere day! The official release date will be announcement via. a trailer within the coming weeks but the release date won’t be announced until we are days away from saying this thing is 110% done.  Stay tuned!

Until the, I will keep everyone updated and will post all marketing goodies and info up until the release.  If anyone has any question, feel free to ask in the forum!

Eddie

The film will be on ScrewAttack at 7pm Paris time.

Donate within the next 6 hours and you’re good to go!

It’s the 3 may in France, can i donate now or it’s too late?
Just 4 days now.......YEAAAAH! Ice Slasher, Fire Storm, Hyper Bomb, Guts arm, Rolling Cuter, Thunder Beam! Robotmasters rules!

LESS. THAN. ONE. WEEK.

New stuff should be going down this week.  The composer is releasing a new track of the score each day leading up to the release.  Monday, I will make a blog entry giving updates, what to expect these last few day, and officially closing the donation run.

‘So any new new anything!?

Oh, and a little idea I had earlier today: maybe you can make a post-release trailer featuring quotes from movie reviews, just like real Hollywood movies! I know it may be asking a bit much, but I want this film to reach as wide an audience as possible, and I’ve learned through experience that people value critics’ opinions over actually judging for themselves on what they see. I’ll even be doing a review of the film on another website, so you could probably quote from that.

Again, just a suggestion. Don’t be afraid to say no.

I’m here! I’m not giving up on Mega Man yet!!

THREE WEEKS. I can’t believe that we’ve (er, you’ve) come so far in this film’s creation. Just so you know, I NEVER lost hope. I’m loyal to a fault, and it showed here.

As for the trailer: Not only do we get more looks at the acting and fights, and not only do we get to hear CGI Gutsman’s voice-actor (sounds great), but a full-orchestral remix of the Mega Man 2 Dr. Wily Castle Stage 1/2 BGM?!! You, sir, know how to make a pay off on a fan’s patience. As said before, I’ll be seeing this movie first day it streams.

Speaking of which, I have a few plans for this movie. First, I’m going to show this film to my family (my mom agreed to it a few months back, but she probably doesn’t remember). Then, later, I’m gonna try and get a DVD and show it at my school’s Anime Club (maybe I can ask my theatre teacher if I can rent out the auditorium for the movie? Heh, wishful thinking...)

Three… freakin’… WEEKS!

For some reason the newest entry won’t let me post on it but my comment is:

I’d give that a big AFFIRMATIVE to a DVD copy. Obviously it would have to be a reasonable price, but yeah i’d pay for an actual DVD with some extras.

This is cool.

Going from this new trailer, I think I’ve discovered the reason why Mega Man/Roll/Proto Man were all built as Asian humanoid bots. I dunno if it will spoil a major plot point, so I won’t just blab it, but did anyone else pick up on that?

I saw it.

A picture is worth a thousand words.

Why yes, yes it is. Once the prequel comic is done (I’m almost done inking!), then it’ll be explained even more so. Am I right, Eddie? :D

The magic of subliminal cutting ^_^

Went back a second time to see what you guys were talking about.

We’ve got some sharp MF’ers up in here!

Yikes! I guess that was kinda to be expected, but I guess I was naive to think that people would keep it a secret on here… regardless, MOST people won’t see it until it’s released officially. The majority of people aren’t checking this site as often as us, and I think it’s pretty safe to assume that ordinary people aren’t looking up Mega Man trailers in their free time either.

Glad people like the trailer!

Talked with Screw Attack and their Megaman page goes live Thursday evening...but it seems someone already leaked the trailer out on youtube.  Gasp!

Ok, THAT was cool!  I like that the CGI ‘Bot Masters talk as well.  I’m gonna guess that Firesman’s ‘headflames’ aren’t finished yet ... or maybe they were tried and somebody get .. singed. lol

What I gotta ask, this might’ve been answered already, just making sure . DVD features.  I don’t know how much you can and/or want to cram in, but just a few thoughts.

Essentials: MOVIE, Subtitles for the hearin’ impaired.

Would really LOVE: Commentaries, Cast and/or Director.  Making Of clips. Blooper Reels! lol

Would be nice: How to make your own Megaman Costumes. (You KNOW the Cosplayers will ask!) Poster/Concept Art Gallery ... and Roll’s Fashion Tips.

Yes, this could easily end up being a twin-disc DVD, and I’d definitely would pay for it.

Wow. Thanks for that post, Eddie. You could have easily ignored it on account of being very busy, but you took the time to respond to each point.

We all know it’s a huge undertaking especially when you’re the filmmaker, the producer AND the public relations department!

Now, the one thing that jumped out at me was this mention of a screening on May 15. What’s this about? Where in DC is it??

The trailer is GREAT, everything from the score to the special effects. That teleportation shot is sweet!

Honestly I never held it against you Eddie. I’m one that believes sometimes there are road blocks forcing people to make detours. Creating and promoting creations like this isn’t as easy as people think.
I have some history with film and music. So I understand and have had my share that deadlines and “perfection” get in the way from how everything was originally planned. Then having people in your face when your knee deep in paperwork doesn’t help ether.

People will bitch and moan when they don’t get what they want right away. But that’s only because they care. I don’t think you lost any followers. They will all watch the movie and most likely love it:) I know we all will.

The Trailer was great. Can’t wait for the premiere!

Thanks for the new trailer! When this movie comes out, I’m gonna do all that I can to remind people about it on all the forums I go to!

Question: Was Fire Man’s blazing head a no-go?

The last couple of comments bring back memories.

I Think I was the first to start jumping down Eddie’s throat when things weren’t getting done.

Eddie, in all honesty you should have expected this from MM fans. You’r an MM fan that took his own money and shot a film (WE ARE ALL NUTS).

You should’ve entrusted one of your friends (or one of us, I would’ve done it to be honest with you)to be a web admin to the movie site to keep things updated. Like you said a picture here or a track there would’ve have done the opposite of what those guys over at Screwattack were telling you. A poster each week would’ve have cause the above posts to never happen.

But, you are doing this all yourself and that’s where the problem lies and why we have a hard time understanding the pressure you’re under. I will leave the comments about the attachment off of this post until you request to hear what we think, but in the future, if you need help ask your fans/friends if we can be of any assistance.

A friend.

i knew continuing to refresh would eventually pay off! i’m absolutely grinning from ear to ear. one complaint: the theme you’re using is from mega man 2. shouldn’t you be saving it for the sequel? i’m just kidding around. it sounds fantastic, fits well, and, best of all, puts me right in the battle beside mega man, just like old times.

we never doubted you’d deliver, eddie. “if” was never the question, although “when” was a bit of a roller coaster. thanks for all your hard work. i’ve seen so many projects of smaller scale drift away into nothing, but you’ve done what so few are able to do: you’ve made it real.

a better mantra to take with you from this experience is “under promise, over deliver.” never let other people expect too much from you—it makes them impossible to impress and ever harder to satisfy.

to your benefit, you’re likely going to tap into an entire audience to whom you’ve promised NOTHING. the first they will have heard of this film will be this week, and they will be completely impressed and completely satisfied. guaranteed.

remember, people are petty and fickle. i have no doubt that some of the people you’ve “lost” will be among the first to praise you once they’ve seen what you’ve accomplished.

have you by chance contacted any boston area theatres about a screening? boston’s a city rich in nerd/geek culture, full of twenty-somethings—your target audience. maybe one of the tech schools like wentworth or mit has a gaming club that would be willing to sponsor or host the screening. just a thought…

THANK YOU.
