Hello!

One week ago, I traveled to MagFest 2010 to screen a rough cut of “Megaman”.  What I Got was: amazing audience reaction, all around praise, and a very happy batch of viewers that believed the Blue Bomber has been done with great justice in this film.  In short: the screening was a success!  In addition, the film was screened a second time the following day so I was able to sneak in and see the audience reaction without them knowing I was present.  I stuck in and out to hear what the fans were saying amongst themselves.  No only were audience reactions even BETTER, but I heard solid chatter praising the film.  So, with a film that seems to be in pretty great shape, what’s next?

Due to the success of the screening , little changes will be made to the film as is.  The new ending that was screened tested very well and I’m extremely happy with the pacing so the current cut is pretty much what will be in final release (aside from some fine tuning here and there).  That means the released film should having a final running time of about 107 minutes with credits!

The next big question is: when will it be released?  The film shall be released online 2 weeks after the premiere.  Well, when will the premiere be?  I don’t want to say officially when it will but I do have a specific time frame in mind and it’s soon….very soon.  Without giving too much, the film will be premiered before the summer.  If any delays occur, you all will be the first to know but at this rate, we are in really good shape.  Let’s say this: everyone who is working on post-production is aware of what is left and what their deadlines are and have agreed to said deadlines.  If no delays occur and everything is smooth, you are looking at a  Premiere/Release within the next 3-5 months (meaning the soonest possible CAN be 3 months from right now).  I don’t want to say a specific release date at the risk of it backfiring in my face but we are close.  Once the film is completed we will spend time promoting and marketing the film as much as humanly (and legally) possible.  We will also push the premiere and make sure we get hardcore MM fans in those seats come premiere day! The official release date will be announcement via. a trailer within the coming weeks but the release date won’t be announced until we are days away from saying this thing is 110% done.  Stay tuned!

Until the, I will keep everyone updated and will post all marketing goodies and info up until the release.  If anyone has any question, feel free to ask in the forum!

Eddie

First and foremost....CONGRATS !!!!

So glad to hear it went well at MAGFest. I know I have been a pest over the past couple, but as a fan I’ve been wanting to see this film after the first game came out. It’s not your fault, you just did what most don’t have the b@!!$ to do.

I’m glad that it turned out so well, you must be extremely proud. As a composer of music, I know how it feels to play a song for someone for the first time and to watch them enjoy it.

Looking forward to the trailer. Any word from Capcom recently? With the release of Megaman 10 on the horizon, have they approached you about advertisement or even to offer any additional help?

Coooool!  ANY chance you MIGHT wanna ponder/be tempted/POSSIBLY consider DALLAS TX, at my favorite theater, the INWOOD for the Premiere? LOL For real, a few have Premiered there.

This is GREAT!  I hope everything in “post-production” is going well. smile

And please consider Southern California as one of your premiere area.

Any chance of a premiere in Vancouver, Canada?

Yes! Please do a premiere in SoCal! That would be cool.

I really hope there isn’t any, look what happened to “The Hero of Time” (for those that doesn’t know, it WAS another fan-made movie, based upon The Legend of Zelda):

“..We just wanted to let you know that Dec. 31 was the last day that The Hero of Time was available for viewing. We came to an agreement with Nintendo earlier this month to stop distributing the film...” (from: http://www.theherooftime.com)

Don’t know what Capcom’s stance is about the film, but I’m very worried that something like what happened with Hero of Time might happen to Megaman…

Hope I’m wrong…

Oh, and yes.... CONGRATULATIONS EDDIE!!!

Capcom is very supportive of fan works etc i think they consider it less work for them and more fun.

I’m very glad that the film’s rough cut tested so well at MagFest. Makes me wish that I was there.

It seems like the film, as you said, is in a great shape. I hope you’ll be releasing more promotional material soon. That’s not to push you though, that’sto inspire you and motivate you. It takes a lot to keep me interested in a movie like this for such an amount of time (I followed this since a week before the first trailer premeired online), and my enthusiasm for Mega Man has not waned. I wish you the best on the movie.

Also, please try to get Southern California release, as many of us (see above) live there. Might I suggest somewhere nearer to where I live, Moreno Valley/Inland Empire?

Yeah, I remember what happened to The Hero of Time. That sucked. Nintendo was so mean! But I understand why they did it. I hope this doesn’t happen to Megaman. Let’s hope Capcom is as supportive as you say.

Ooo! Small world! (or probably just because it’s SoCal). I’m in the Riverside area, not too far from Moreno Valley.

For me i live in WV so if he showed it there i would try to get all my friends even the ones not interested in megaman to go see it.

Hey - I’m in WV, too! I’m right in the middle of the Kanawha Valley; how ‘bout you?

If Milwaukee is good enough for Wayne’s World, its good enough for the Mega Man premiere.

As for me, I would really like to see it at the Fantasia Festival in Montreal this summer. Premiere or not wink
