Many questions were asked, and thus, I shall answer all of them! Let’s begin!:

Asked by “Wearethedead”:
Q.1: Eddie, I saw you had posted on “The Megas” forum. You said that you had discussed possibly using one of their songs for the the film. Are you still considering it?
A.1: Indeed, I am! I’m pretty sure at least one song off their album will be worked into the film in some form, whether a new trailer or the actual film. With such great music, it just seems smart to use it anyway we can!

Asked by “MagicalWingLT”:
Q.1: Will the movie be put on the site for everyone to see?
A.1: The film will be posted online for free viewing, first exclusively on Ningin, followed quickly by www.megamanfilm.com, and after some time has passed, the film will be hosted by various means on various sites.
Q.2: Will you put the movie on dvd so we can buy it?
There will be an option on the site in which you can request a DVD copy of the film and we send it over! The only thing you would pay for is for the disc itself (IE. the dvd we will burn the film to), shipping, and the packaging. I won’t be charging anymore since I don’t want to make a profit.

Asked by “deejay”:
Q.1: Did you set a date of release yet?
A.1: I’ve learned that, when it comes to fan films, never lock a date until you have a nearly completed film, if not 100% completed. I don’t want to announce a date and have the hype backfire if the film isn’t released on time.
With that being said, all I can really give is a general time range of a release based on progress thus far. As of now, we are aiming for July (July 4th would be ideal), but that is in no way an official release date nor a promise. A summer release is most likely at the moment if things stay the course!

Asked by “OBM”:
Q: What kind of music are you using? Did capcom help you out at all?
A: For the score, we are using “Megaman 2″ as the main means of influence but the goal is to capture the the quality of the scores that the early 8-bit games started while combining that into a symphonic, orchestral, and electronic hybrid score. The film will also include original music tracks and other types of tracks but most of the film will be score-based.
Capcom is not helping out (yet?) but we’ve talked with a representative from Capcom who made it clear that the film, being a fan project, is supported and encouraged.

Asked by “Sakura”:
Q: Do you have anymore goodies for us?:D
A: I’m considering posting more stills here on the Ningin blog but in addition to that, one 30 second “TV Spot” and a new 1 minute trailer could be released but this will be down the road! Most likely as we get into the summer.

Asked by “Stryks”
Q.1: Even though this movie is based on the 1st megaman game, will we hear any music from later games? the MM1 soundtrack is great and all, but it pales in comparison against the music from megaman 2
A.1: Megaman 2 is the sole inspiration for the score of this film (being the superior score in my opinion!) with maybe some additional tracks from later games; mainly the Protoman theme!
Q.2: Will megaman absorb, and thus, change color when obtaining the weapons after defeating a robot master?
A.2: He does take the power of each of the robot masters, however, as presented in a few of the games. Remember how when a robot master was defeated, they would leave behind this little orb that you have to touch to get their power? I decided to do something similar to that.
He MAY momentarily change color when switching powers but, due to costume budget and my need to get more realistic, it was decided not to have him change a different color and stay that color based on his power.
Q.3: there have been multiple bands out there that have done remixes of various megaman themes, did anyone approach you, or did you approach anyone to help you out with the music?
A.3: Many approached us actually, however, this was early in the production of Megaman. I replied to all that contacted and told them that offer was appreciated and that there music would be considered when we had an edit. So much good music, but sadly, we can’t put it all into the film! Trailers, however, are another story….
Q.4: will there be any cameos of other robot masters from the other games, be it physical or just a mention of their names in the film, maybe this would take out some ‘OMG HE MENTIONED THAT CHARACTER!’ factor, so if you don’t wanna answer then it’s ok
A.4: All robot masers and major bosses from the first game will be in the film. Various other minor characters and enemies have been written into the film and modeled in 3D but editing will determine whether or not they are necessary to tell the story of the final product.
Q.5: Is there any other game you’d like to make a film out of that ain’t megaman related? and can we expect another videogame based film in the future?
A.5: Anything after Megaman would have to be either a web series, short film, or a faux trailer. Unless I get a grant or funding that lands $25,000 in my lap, another video game feature would be too much for me to handle….unless I did an official one!
I’m 90% sure I will do at least one more video game related film. Whatever impact the release of Megaman has, I want to one up that to the 1000th degree. As of now, Street Fighter, Metal Gear Solid, and Zero Wing are swimming around in my head…..yes, I said Zero Wing.
Q.6: Lastly, what are your thoughts on the street fighter film, and more recently, the dragonball film, on how they follow very little from the source material, frankly, just thinking of the dragonball film makes me mad, I know it’s big in japan, but it’s also very very popular here in mexico, it’s like a religion, and to see that film… sigh…
A.6: I haven’t seen the new street fighter film. I saw and read enough to know that they screwed it up
again! Dragonball made more of an effort but, ironically, failed worse by not following aspects of the source material that mattered more to the fan base.
I want a street fighter movie to be as simple as this. A fighting tournament with much at stake in which we explore each characters personality and motivation to enter and win the tournament. There you go, 2 hours of action with a solid character driven plot and we are faithful to the game. So easy….so why the hell can’t Hollywood do it??? Hell, Mortal Kombat could have been fantastic with it’s concept if only it was in the hands of a director who knew how to balanced justified action and substance. James Cameron can do it so it’s not like it’s an impossible feat! This stated reason is my main motivation to do some with Street Fighter (as mentioned above).

Asked by “JetPilot”:
Q.1: I would like to know if this film will be available for everyone to see when it is released in (hopefully) July? The reason I ask is that many of these types of small independent films only see a very limited release at a couple film festivals and are never made available for the general public to view/purchase. Unless you happen to be in a specified city on a certain date you miss out on the movie forever.
A.1: It will be available for everyone! Online for anyone to download!
Q.2: Will this movie be made available for purchase on DVD or iTunes or direct download here so everyone can enjoy your hard work?
A.2: Read the above answer! Anyone who wants to see it will have a easy time finding it and getting a version of the film that works for them!

Asked by “Dastari”:
Q.1: My main question is the criteria that you will evaluate to decide on whether or not you will release a sequal. I know that in previous comments you have said that a sequal is possible. I understand this. If the movie doesn’t do well then it would seem wasteful of your time and finances to make another but how will you measure the success?
A.1: Firstly, it depends on downloads and viewership of the film. If the film gets a decent amount of views, such as 100k-200k views, I can deem it a success. Secondly, feedback. Reading as much feedback as I do, I’m able to filter out legitimate feedback and reviews from trolls and immature statements. If overall feedback is positive and people are interested in a sequel, that would deem this a success and a sequel more of a probablity. Thirdly is resources. If a major gaming site or a gaming network is interested in helping us finanace and promote a sequel, that would help since that’s a huge weight off my shoulders (the film would still be non-profit). I’m not going to lie, I would LOVE to do a sequel. I have so many INSANE action sequences in my head cooking, many great directions to take the characters, and way to really up the production value but the stress from trying to get the resources to do this one was just…..ouch.
Honestly, if over the next year or so, the demand is there and I fall on top of $20,000 and a note saying “Make Megaman 2 bigger and better than the first!”, odds are I would do it.
Q.2: Also I believe that someone else has asked if there are other video game franchies that you are interested in making a movie on and I echo that question.
A.2: Read the answer from above!
Q.3: Other people have mentioned the music. I note that on the first trailer clip released there was some genuine Mega Man VG music on it. Then the more elaborate trailer was released that had music reminiscent of Batman Begins. Will the music in this movie all come from the games or will there be original compositions as in the trailer? Personally I’d like to have some original work in there as well because even though the VG music can be fun to hear I think it would get annoying if it played nonstop through the film.
A.3: The trailer consisted of music from “Transformers” and “The Dark Knight” mainly since that’s the type of grand scale I want for the film. The score will be strongly influenced by the original NES scores, especially Megaman 2, but it be bigger and and grander with many original new themes introduced as they hybrids with the old ones..

This was such a pleasure to do so I may try to do this periodically as more questions arise! I love doing this interaction type of thing more than just updating.
