It’s that time again!

After getting swamped and being hit with a virus, here I am again!  Well, on to business:

The goal is still set for July 4th screening and I am remaining optimistic.  The next few weeks will be crucial as the most complex effects are handle.

One funny little tidbit.  The ending of the film has been modified to be more faithful to game.  Without giving much away, one element from a later game was incorporated to the end of the film but after much thought, I thought it would be better to change one or two things in the editing and visual effects to modify this and please myself and other fans alike.  Upon release, I shall reveal what change was made!

On a screening related note, if you or anyone you know is interested in screening the secretive 16 minute preview of the film at an event or festival, ask me!  Screening request for the actual film will not begin until June the earliest to ensure any screenings the film is schedule for are plausible.  Although things are on course for July, I am not making promises.

Also, as mention in passing on the forum, I’m strongly interested in answer questions from those who follow this blog!  In the forum topic that will be created for this blog or in the comments below, shoot some questions my way!  As many as you want!  Within the next 7 days, post your questions!  All questions after 7 days will have to be saved for another time.  Talk to you all then!

Eddie

Ed!!!!

Damn. Now I have to think of a good question. haha

Glad to see you’re back. ^^

Nice Q&A;ftw.

Eddie, I saw you had posted on “The Megas” forum. You said that you had discussed possibly using one of their songs for the the film. Are you still considering it?

I’m looking forward to seeing this movie… However I got 2 questions for you… 1) Will the movie be put on the site for everyone to see? or 2)Will you put the movie on dvd so we can buy it?

Did you set a date of release yet?

What kind of music are you using? Did capcom help you out at all?

Do you have anymore goodies for us? :D

Oh yeah Capcom is supporting this film.

*is back, couldnt miss this chance for a Q&A;*
- Even though this movie is based on the 1st megaman game, will we hear any music from later games? the MM1 soundtrack is great and all, but it pales in comparison against the music from megaman 2

- Will megaman absorb, and thus, change color when obtaining the weapons after defeating a robot master?

- there have been multiple bands out there that have done remixes of various megaman themes, did anyone approach you, or did you approach anyone to help you out with the music?

- will there be any cameos of other robot masters from the other games, be it physical or just a mention of their names in the film, maybe this would take out some ‘OMG HE MENTIONED THAT CHARACTER!’ factor, so if you don’t wanna answer then it’s ok

- Is there any other game you’d like to make a film out of that ain’t megaman related? and can we expect another videogame based film in the future?

- Lastly, what are your thoughts on the street fighter film, and more recently, the dragonball film, on how they follow very little from the source material, frankly, just thinking of the dragonball film makes me mad, I know it’s big in japan, but it’s also very very popular here in mexico, it’s like a religion, and to see that film… sigh…

anyway eddie, keep up the good work like always!

Hi Eddie,

I would like to know if this film will be available for everyone to see when it is released in (hopefully) July?

The reason I ask is that many of these types of small independent films only see a very limited release at a couple film festivals and are never made available for the general public to view/purchase.  Unless you happen to be in a specified city on a certain date you miss out on the movie forever.

Will this movie be made available for purchase on DVD or iTunes or direct download here so everyone can enjoy your hard work?

Thanks and keep up the excellent work!

My question is: When can we expect to read your responses to these questions?

Many solid questions!

Keep them coming!  All questions asked before the end of Friday shall be answered in the next blog!  Most likely within 2-3 days of this Friday.

My main question is the criteria that you will evaluate to decide on whether or not you will release a sequal. I know that in previous comments you have said that a sequal is possible. I understand this. If the movie doesn’t do well then it would seem wasteful of your time and finances to make another but how will you measure the success?

Also I believe that someone else has asked if there are other video game franchies that you are interested in making a movie on and I echo that question.

I’d also like to toss my vote in for making this film available as a DVD. I know that this can’t be “for profit” or Capcom would swoop in but surely if the cost is just to cover the DVD and shipping and you make no money on it then it can’t be a problem.

Other people have mentioned the music. I note that on the first trailer clip released there was some genuine Mega Man VG music on it. Then the more elaborate trailer was released that had music reminiscent of Batman Begins. Will the music in this movie all come from the games or will there be original compositions as in the trailer? Personally I’d like to have some original work in there as well because even though the VG music can be fun to hear I think it would get annoying if it played nonstop through the film.

I really appreciate your being close enough to the fans to let us ask you questions directly like this. I look forward to seeing the movie when it is available!

Lots of questions!

Indeed!  Started answering them so expect a new blog post pretty soon!

Wow...first time I’ve heard or run into you on Ningin. Nice to meet you. LOL
